IN PLAIN ENGLISH
What kind of things the fund owns. An all-shares tracker is close to 100% shares; a 60/40 fund holds about 60% shares and 40% bonds.
FULL DEFINITION
How a fund's money is split between shares, bonds, cash and other assets.
EXAMPLE
A fund holding £60 of shares, £39 of bonds and £1 of cash for every £100 shows Shares 60.00%, Bonds 39.00%, Cash 1.00%.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Read from the fund's look-through, the same breakdown the sector pies split a fund by. The market data provider gives the fund's share, bond, cash and other positions, and every equity sector, including any the provider can't name, counts as Shares. Each slice = its weight ÷ the total of all weights × 100. Hidden when the provider has no breakdown for the fund.
