IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Headline stat block showing total value, total cost, return and return yield for the whole portfolio.
WHY IT HELPS
Answers 'where do I stand?' in one glance, with today's move shown alongside the running total.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Total Value = shares held × latest price per holding, FX-converted and summed. Total Cost = buy cost − (shares sold × average cost per share), summed. Return = Total Value − Total Cost. Yield here is a capital return figure, not a dividend yield: (Total Value − Total Cost) ÷ Total Cost × 100. The bracketed day change sums shares × (price − previous close) over holdings that report a previous close.
