GLOSSARY

Trailing Returns

Funds & Crypto

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

How much the fund has made or lost, income included, over different stretches of time.

FULL DEFINITION

A fund's total return over periods ending on a stated date: year to date, and the last 1, 3, 5 and 10 years.

EXAMPLE

A 5-year figure of +13.69% means the fund grew by about 13.69% a year on average over five years, not 13.69% in total.

HOW IT'S CALCULATED

Not calculated by the app. Total returns as published by the market data provider, with distributions counted as reinvested, to the date shown underneath. Year to date and 1 year are the total change; 3, 5 and 10 years are averages per year (annualised). They are the fund's own figures, so they may be measured in its base currency, and they are before your platform's fees. Hidden when the provider has none, as for some UK-listed ETFs.
