IN PLAIN ENGLISH
How much the fund's returns have bounced around. A higher figure means a bumpier ride.
FULL DEFINITION
The standard deviation of a fund's returns over the last three years, expressed per year.
EXAMPLE
A volatility of 12.41% means that in about two years out of three, the fund's return has landed within about 12 percentage points of its average.
HOW IT'S CALCULATED
Not calculated by the app. The three-year standard deviation published by the market data provider, from the fund's monthly returns, annualised. Hidden when the provider has none.
